Camping on Lake Molveno in the north of Italy

"Camping Spiaggia Lago di Molveno" in Malfein

A few years ago I landed my motorcycle on the route that led me to the lake by chance. As I drove through it was clear to me that I would have to return there as soon as possible. This time, however, definitely with one our VW camper.

This paradise can be reached in about 4 hours by car from Munich and is about an hour north of Lake Garda. We were there in early June 2019. A beautiful mountain lake in the Italian Trentino east of the Brenta Dolomites with its 3.151 meter high main peak Cima Brenta. Our destination is also on the edge of the small town of Malfein, on the north shore of the lake: The campsite “Camping Spiaggia Lago di Molveno". Uncomplicated, very clean, well equipped and located right on the shore of the lake. Free choice of space for you as a camper on site and advance reservations are even possible for stays shorter than 1 or 2 weeks. There is a small shop with groceries and everything you need on the site. If you are looking for something special or want to start a major purchase, you are lucky here again. A large Coop supermarket with everything a camper's and gourmet's heart desires is just a 5-minute walk away. Just a few minutes further you will find the first restaurants and in no time you are in the small city center of Malfein.

But let's go back to the campsite itself. The pitches are beautiful and green. Some trees also offer great shade. Electricity and water are available. The washrooms with showers and toilets are large and clean. We felt very comfortable. As already mentioned, the course is right on the pebble beach of the lake. The place is fenced and a door locked with a combination lock brings you directly to the large lawn on the pebble beach. You will of course receive the code when you check in at reception. The small gate ensures that the camping guests are not disturbed by passers-by and other bathers. A large lawn invites you to relax, sunbathe, play volleyball or have a picnic by the lake. The clean and wide pebble beach begins directly below the meadow with some almost tropical-looking play of colors in the water near the shore. An absolute dream. And all of this with the mighty Brenta mountain range in view. Turquoise bank water and high mountain peaks, some of which are covered with snow, in the background. A dream combination.

If you have enough sun and want to get active, you will not be disappointed here either. A nice several hour walk around the lake. Various hikes start right at the campsite. Electric or pedal boats can be rented a few minutes away from the site. The area is also known for mountain bikers and downhill riders - the Dolomiti Paganella Bike Park is world-famous and the venue for many large downhill events. A gondola cable car goes directly from the town of Malfein to the local mountain Pradel. In addition to the unique panorama with a view of the lake and the Brenta massif, there are numerous things to discover up here: high ropes course, downhill tracks, hikes, paragliding, via ferrata and even a teaching farm can be found on the Pradel high plateau. In this educational farm, children learn a lot about animals and the life and work of a farmer in the mountains. When you get back to the lakeshore there are other ways to have fun for yourself or your children. There is an outdoor swimming pool right on the lake and a large playground right on the pebble beach within walking distance of the campsite. However, if you don't need all of this and are only looking for peace and quiet, you will also find it on Lake Molveno. True to the motto “everything can, nothing has to”, everyone gets their money's worth here. You could go on writing forever, but that would go beyond the scope. I think you could take a picture and the photos I uploaded speak for themselves anyway.

Greetings from the whole team and have fun on your next trip with one of ours new camper!
