Searching for parking spaces and campsites made easy with apps

We always have it with us, it's small and handy: our smartphone. Especially on the way to vacation, but also when preparing for vacation, you can save yourself bulky books or maps with the right apps and still have all the important information at hand. The selection of camping apps nowadays is huge and it is not always easy to keep track of them. In the following article we would like to introduce you to a small selection of camping apps that will make your vacation planning easier. In the following, we would like to limit ourselves to pitch and campsite apps that are aimed at destinations in Europe. The apps presented were rated on many different channels by campers, mobile home owners and people who travel with tents.

When researching and comparing the camping and parking space apps, it was important to us that there is a GPS location and an offline function is available. Especially when you are traveling abroad, or in more remote corners, you don't have to use your own data volume for it. Wi-Fi is now often available at campsites. The topicality of the apps is also an important criterion for us, because traveling is not fun with outdated material 🙂 So we always made sure that the tested apps are updated regularly in order to bring the desired benefits. The common features such as filter function, ratings and area search are of course indispensable. Since these apps are often only used seasonally, we also looked at the price - is it worth buying the full version or does the free alternative also work? Try out the apps once and at the end decide for yourself which one best suits your ideas and needs.

“ADAC camping and parking space guide”

The ADAC camping and parking space guide appears annually new and updated, which is only available for purchase and offers many functions (filter functions, ratings, universal and location search, navigation function, etc.). You can currently download the app for 8,99 euros and thus use all areas of the app. Unfortunately, offline use is only available to a limited extent.

“Campercontact”

With over 33.000 spaces across Europe, the Campercontact app advertises its customers, although it is positive that the exact number of spaces is given per country. With this app, which can currently be downloaded for 5,99 euros for Android and IOS, the next camping or parking space can be found using the localization function via GPS. Filter functions, view ratings and various search functions are also possible here. And all of this even without advertising.

“Promobil parking space radar”

The Promobil parking space radar offers the possibility of choosing the right one from 22.000 parking spaces across Europe. Even in the free version you can already use many functions. The full version costs 4,99 euros and has all the usual features (filter functions, applications, etc.). The advantages lie in the website and offline availability.

“WOMO Stellplatz.eu”

The full version of the WOMO Stellplatz.eu app can be downloaded for a one-time fee of 5,49 euros. There are currently more than 25.000 parking spaces and campsites on offer. With the free version of the app, you can already search for places in the area, use the filter functions, etc. However, WOMO Stellplatz.eu only works offline in the paid version.

“Camping.info”

If you are looking for a campsite in Europe, you are sure to find it at Camping.info. 23.000 places are listed and the common filter functions help to get an overview and to narrow down your own search. The completely ad-free app has the usual filter functions, but there are only a few other gadgets such as offline availability. The app is completely in German.

“Country pleasure”

Country fun differs from the previous apps in a few factors. Only available for Germany, this app shows a very large selection of campsites and farms. Approximately 800 private parking spaces, wineries, farms and parking spaces, each available for one night, are displayed. With the purchase of the parking space guide as a book and the corresponding vignette, you have free access to all parking options. And best of all: with the one-time fee of 34,99 euros, you can stand for one night for free. A great, creative concept for people who would like to try alternative forms to the classic campsite.

“Park4night”

The widespread “classic” among parking space apps. The park136.000night app includes 4 camper-relevant spaces. However, it must be noted that the app includes campsites as well as parking spaces, disposal stations, etc. All of these different types can be filtered, making them easier to find. A good additional feature is the “nearby” function, which makes it easy to find nearby parking spaces. The offline version of the app can only be used with the Pro version. This costs 1,99 euros for a monthly subscription and 9,99 euros for an annual subscription.

There are countless other apps for searching for parking spaces and camping sites, but that would go beyond the scope here. Do you have any favorites? Or can you particularly recommend individual apps? Feel free to contact us, we look forward to your feedback and tips 🙂

Until then, have fun testing the apps and hopefully see you soon - stay healthy!
